Competing at the highest level of amateur golf is a challenge that only a select few achieve. Many dream of walking the fairways of Augusta National Golf Club, where history, tradition, and excellence define the game. For an elite group of female amateurs, that dream becomes reality each spring at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur (ANWA), one of the sport’s most prestigious events. The tournament begins at Champions Retreat Golf Club—a course known for its demanding layout and championship pedigree—before a final round at Augusta National.
Since its inception in 2019, ANWA has showcased the future of women’s golf, featuring top amateur players from around the world. Many of these players have honed their skills through the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA). This year’s field continues that tradition, with 40 AJGA alumni and seven current AJGA players competing for the coveted title.
As the tournament unfolds, all eyes will be on these standout competitors, many of whom have already made their mark in junior and collegiate golf. From past Rolex Junior Players of the Year to future LPGA Tour hopefuls, their journeys through junior golf have prepared them for this grand stage.
For the AJGA juniors making their ANWA debuts, inspiration can be found in the footsteps of those who came before them. The tournament has served as a proving ground for some of the biggest names in golf, and their success stories show that anything is possible with determination, talent, and perseverance.

"I am so grateful for the opportunity to play and grow the game with the best amateurs in the world at the Augusta National Women's Amateur. I feel ready to embrace the challenge, and I know my game is in a good place from the AJGA events I’ve played in earlier this year. I’m excited to share the experience with my mom as my caddy and play hard."
AJGA alumni have historically found success at ANWA, with three of the tournament’s five past champions having competed in AJGA events. The inaugural champion, Jennifer Kupcho, finished T-3 at the 2015 AJGA Hale Irwin Colorado Junior presented by MusclePharm. Auburn freshman and 2022 champion Anna Davis is a three-time First Team Rolex Junior All-American and won the 2021 PING Heather Farr Classic. LPGA champion Rose Zhang captured the 2023 ANWA title just before turning professional. A five-time Rolex Junior All-American and the 2020 Rolex Junior Player of the Year secured 10 AJGA victories during her junior golf career.
With another talented group of AJGA players and alumni set to compete, the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur promises to be another unforgettable chapter in the tournament’s history.
