The AJGA Golf Executive of the Year Award is presented annually to a golf industry leader who demonstrates exceptional support for junior golf through hosting, service and advocacy. “Clint has been a tremendous partner to the AJGA for many years. His leadership at Briar’s Creek and his commitment to excellence were key to the success of Wyndham Cup last year and many other events. This recognition is well-earned and reflects his impact on junior golf.”
Andrew Greenfield, Senior Vice President of Tournament Operations

Under Wood’s leadership, The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek has hosted several high-profile AJGA events, including two Rolex Girls Junior Championships in 2019 and 2023, and most recently, the Wyndham Cup. Wood also played an integral role in the 2015 Wyndham Cup at Old Town Club, an inaugural AJGA event at the historic venue, which helped pave the way for the AJGA’s return in 2019 and future years.

The Wyndham Cup is one of the AJGA’s most prestigious Invitational events, pitting the top junior golfers from the East and West in a Ryder Cup-style team competition. Known for its elite field, spirited team format and strong tradition, the event highlights not only skill but also sportsmanship, camaraderie and regional pride.

“My involvement with the AJGA over the last ten-plus years has been so rewarding. Hosting events and working with the talented players and AJGA staff have each been very special for me.”

Wood went above and beyond during the 2024 Wyndham Cup to ensure a memorable experience for all involved. From providing meals and fruit for players, families and AJGA staff to securing shuttle carts for transportation, his hospitality enhanced the event at every level. In 2015, Wood even hosted an AJGA staff member at his home to help reduce expenses. His generous support through donations and cost-saving efforts helped reduce tournament expenses, allowing the AJGA to contribute tournament proceeds to charity.

“Seeing the players that continue to move on and up in their careers is what it’s all about. I would encourage all my peers in our industry to find opportunities to give back and grow junior golf.”
