Davis Shore

By Kelsey Marini, AJGA Communications

No one stays as cool and collected as Davis Shore. No matter what kind of day he is having on the course he walks off with a smile. Shore is a truly talented player and a role model to many, which is why he is perfect for The First Tee of Greater Knoxville, in his hometown.

“I wanted to give back to the community and thought this was a great way to do it,” Shore said.

Shore started his Leadership Links program in May of 2015 and has already been making a difference. He has been reaching out to the Knoxville community, asking them to get involved with the organization as well as keeping record of how he does in tournaments so the kids can keep track of his progress. Any donations Shore gets from supporters is generously matched by the USGA.

“You don’t know how lucky you are until you get into it,” Shore said. “I’m happy to support them. I like what they do and I want to help the kids in any way I can.”

Once his hectic summer schedule comes to a simmer, Shore plans on having an event where he will work with the kids directly and teach them the game of golf. He previously helped with a junior golf exhibition clinic put on by PGA TOUR players Scott Stallings and Wes Roach, which was sponsored by The First Tee of Greater Knoxville. Shore was given the chance to help the 400 participants build their golf skills and talk to them about the AJGA.

“I’m glad I get to help others through the sport I love and help the kids who wouldn’t have these opportunities otherwise,” Shore said.

The First Tee of Greater Knoxville is dedicated to making a positive impact on the surrounding community by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
