Dakoda Dowd of Palm Harbour, Fla., will make her LPGA debut this week at the Ginn Clubs and Resorts Open in Reunion, Fla. Dowd, 13, has earned a sponsor’s exemption into this week’s event and will use this as a platform to spread her mom’s message.
Dowd’s mother was diagnosed with breast and liver cancer. It has always been her dream to watch her daughter play in an LPGA event, and now she will see her dream happen. Through accepting this exemption, the Dowd’s will have the chance to spread their message about getting checked for cancer and not waiting to receive a diagnosis.
Dowd had the opportunity to play with former AJGA alum Paula Creamer and the No.1 women’s player in the world Annika Sorenstam during her practice round Tuesday.
Dowd is a 2012 graduate and has played in the 2005 First American Title Junior Classic.
