BRASELTON, Ga. — The American Junior Golf Association announced a new partnership with the award-winning weekly publication Golf World. The partnership includes title sponsorship of two preseason events, monthly publication of the Polo Golf Rankings, distribution of Golf World to all AJGA members and in-kind advertising for the Association and its sponsors.
The two preseason events featuring the magazine’s namesake will take place in 2009: The Golf World Preseason Junior, Southeast will be held April 3-5 at a golf course yet to be announced; The Golf World Preseason Junior at Marshallia Ranch will be held at Marshallia Ranch Golf Course on the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, April 24-26.
“Golf World’s reputation and ability to reach golfers worldwide will increase the awareness of the AJGA and introduce readers to our membership and programs,” said Jason Etzen, executive vice president of corporate partnerships. “Golf World’s support of the AJGA will help grow the sport of golf and provide opportunities that will impact the lives of young people in a positive way.”
The AJGA’s Preseason Series is specifically designed for first-time AJGA members or those members who have not yet been accepted to or participated in an AJGA Open event, AJGA Invitational or Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy / Montverde Academy Junior All-Star Series event in the current calendar year and/or the previous calendar year.
The Polo Golf Rankings is a select ranking system used to rank the top junior players in the country. The AJGA uses the rankings to round out AJGA Invitational fields, to guide the Rolex Junior All-America selection process and to determine Canon Cup teams.
