GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness and the American Junior Golf Association along with Sanford Health partner in 2020 to host the first-ever AJGA tournament in the state of South Dakota. The 78-player field hosted at Willow Run Golf Club will feature 54-holes of competition along with a one-day Qualifier.

The event will bring 78 male and female junior golfers from around the country to the Sioux Falls, South Dakota area. AJGA Open tournaments make up the largest part of the AJGA schedule. All AJGA members are eligible to play in and may submit tournament applications to Open tournaments. All AJGA Open tournaments are filled using the AJGA’s Performance Based Entry system.

“We are excited to bring the AJGA to South Dakota for the first time in history. What a great way to bring some of the best junior golfers in the world to South Dakota and Willow Run Golf Course.” Jason Sudenga, GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness Vice President of Golf.

Willow Run Golf Course is a first-time host of the AJGA. The course located just east of downtown Sioux Falls and hosted the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge Symetra Tour event from 2015 to 2019. All five past champions of the event are AJGA alumnae including, 2016 Rolex Junior Player of the year, Patty Tavatanakit and three-time Rolex Junior All-American, Nelly Korda.

The four-day event will also include a 78-player qualifier. The AJGA Qualifier Series, like Monday Qualifying on the PGA TOUR, is one of the main ways’ players get their start with the AJGA. Typically held the day prior to AJGA Open and AJGA Junior All-Star Series tournaments, 18-hole AJGA Qualifiers give players an opportunity to "play their way in" to each coinciding tournament and earn PBE status for a future event.

We’re excited to be involved in this showcase of talented young people,” said Steve Young, President of Sanford Sports. “This is another step toward resuming athletic competitions, while incorporating improved public health measures.”

We encourage the Sioux Falls community to volunteer at the GreatLIFE Junior Challenge by Sanford Health. If you are interested in supporting the AJGA through volunteering please contact Tournament Director, Brandon Wheat, bwheat@ajga.org or sign up online.
