Things to look for:

  • Foursomes: In Saturday’s morning and afternoon matches, teammates will hit alternate shots on each hole, matching the Ryder Cup experience. Jimmy Walker originally thought of this tournament following Team USA’s loss to Team Europe in the 2014 Ryder Cup as a way for juniors to gain match play experience.
  • Team Names: The team names represent two courses that hold great significance to Jimmy Walker. Team Cordillera is named after his home course and the host of this week’s tournament, The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch. Team Baltusrol recognizes Jimmy Walker’s first major championship victory at the 2016 PGA Championship, hosted by Baltusrol Golf Club.
  • Two of this week’s participants gained some match play experience earlier this year at Wyndham Cup. Ricky Castillo of Yorba Linda, California, competed for the victorious West Team, while Ryan Gerard of Raleigh, North Carolina, played on the East Team at the Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. The two will face off in foursome play on Saturday, Castillo as a member of Team Baltusrol and Gerard with Team Cordillera.
