KPMG and Stacy Lewis to sponsor AJGA event

KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, will team up with American Junior Golf Association alumnus and LPGA Champion Stacy Lewis to host the KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior Open.  The tournament will take place at Bella Vista Village - Highlands Golf Course in Bella Vista, Ark., on July 2-5, and will feature 132 of the top junior golfers, boys and girls ages 12-18.

“At KPMG we pride ourselves on supporting the development of today’s youth and tomorrow’s future leaders,” said John Veihmeyer, Chairman and CEO of KPMG LLP.  “Youth athletic programs are essential in allowing young people the opportunity to grow.  They foster friendly competition, reinforce the importance of ethics and integrity, and can play a large role in developing leadership skills. We are delighted to support the AJGA and Stacy in hosting this tournament.”

Stacy Lewis, who entered into a sponsor relationship with KPMG in March of this year, is now the No. 1 ranked American and the No. 2 ranked player in the world.  During a decorated amateur career, she was a four-time All-American at the University of Arkansas where she won 12 times including the NCAA Championship. As a professional on the LPGA Tour, Lewis was a member of the 2011 US Solheim Cup team, and has claimed three victories, including a breakthrough major win at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2011 and two titles in 2012. Lewis played in eight AJGA events during her junior years, with her best finish coming at the 2002 Aaron's / Bob Estes Abilene Junior when she finished T4.

“Junior golf is the foundation upon which the best players in the United States have built their games” said Stacy Lewis. “It is where I developed a passion for the game, where I was able to escape from my on-going battle with scoliosis, and where I was able to earn a college scholarship. It is an honor that KPMG and the AJGA, two organizations that are the best in their respective fields, have agreed to join with me in this effort to provide the best opportunities in junior golf to an area of the country that means so much to me.”

“The AJGA is proud to collaborate with KPMG,” said Jason Etzen, AJGA chief business officer. “Stacy Lewis is one of the brightest stars in golf and we are thrilled to work with her and KPMG on this event.”
