Mexican Golf Federation to Sponsor New AJGA Event

BRASELTON, Ga. - The Mexican Golf Federation joins the American Junior Golf Association in 2010 as the title sponsor of the second event the AJGA will host in Mexico.

The Mexican Golf Federation is responsible for overseeing golf in its home country including rankings, national and special events and administration over items such as the Rules of Golf and handicaps. A growing international membership and interest in expanding junior golfers’ opportunities in North America were key to the partnership.

“The AJGA is committed to providing top opportunities for its junior golfers and the Mexican Golf Federation’s support allows us to provide our membership with the experience of international competition,” said Vice President of Tournament Development Jason Ross.

This year marks the first year the AJGA will conduct a top junior golf event on the West coast of Mexico, this time visiting Nuevo Vallarta in the state of Nayarit. The Mexican Golf Federation Junior Open will be held June 11-14 at El Tigre Golf Club, rated one of the top 10 best golf courses of Mexico in 2008 by Golf Guide & Golf in Mexicomagazines.
