The backbone of the American Junior Golf Association is its internship program. Today marks #NationalInternDay and the AJGA is celebrating the 100+ annual interns on the road, at National Headquarters and on social media. The AJGA's internship gives its staff large amounts of responsibility and encourages them to grow in a team environment while being mentored by some of the best staff in golf. Skills such as leadership, work ethic, event management, public relations, public speaking and customer service are ingrained in the internship from the beginning.

The AJGA employs 63 full time staff members with 83% of them having completed at least one form of the AJGA Internship. This year’s interns currently attend or are graduates of 70 different colleges across America. They represent 28 states and one country, Uganda. The four 2019 spring intern teams covered 17,506 miles in 8 weeks, while the current six teams of road warriors will hit around 36,395 miles before the end of the 13-week summer.
Interns help support the 120 plus events in all 50 states the AJGA hosts each year. Each team of eight interns travel with two trucks and a trailer across their respective region of the country.
The hands-on experience allows AJGA interns to land jobs within golf and sports industries. The AJGA hires exclusively from its internship pool and others are referred to a growing list of prominent organizations. Past interns now work for organizations such as the USGA, PGA TOUR, LPGA, PGA of America, The First Tee, state and regional golf associations, college athletics and jobs throughout the sports industry.
