College Round-up

Vanderbilt University freshman Jacqui Concolino became the Southeastern Conference's Golfer of the Week last week. Her performance at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational led to these honors. She finished the tournament at 9-under-par. She became the only the second Vanderbilt freshmen to win a tournament. However, her top finish was not enough to bring team honors to the Commodores. Arizona State finished first led by freshman Azahara Munoz.

Ryan Baca, a senior at Baylor University, captured medalist honors last week at the UTSA Intercollegiate. His 14-under-par bested the field by 11 strokes. His three sub-70 rounds helped his team take home the team victory as well.

Charleston Southern junior Shawn Hall led the way at the Charleston Southern Spring Kick-Off Tournament last week. He finished one shot ahead of Aaron Summers and Fredric Sundberg. In the team division, Jacksonville finished in the lead.

In a playoff last week at the John Burns Intercollegiate, Brandon DeStefano of SMU defeated Jay Moseley of Auburn. DeStefano's 14-under-par helped guide SMU to a one stroke victory over BYU in the team division.

University of Southern Florida sophomore Christina Jones was the only player to finish under par last week at the Papa Johns Collegiate. Her two-under-par bested the field by seven strokes. North Carolina State took home team medalist honors led by senior Lorraine Ballerano.

Lacey Jones of SMU finished 1-under-par last week at the Central District Invitational. Her four stroke lead helped SMU take a third place finish in the tournament. Baylor University took home the top team honors led by senior Meredith Jones.

University of Arkansas senior Amanda McCurdy medaled at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic last week. She finished two strokes ahead of the rest of the field and helped Arkansas take home a third place team finish. The University of Florida took home team honors led by second place finisher Whitney Myers.
