To better prepare AJGA members in the tournament application process, each week we will preview tournaments with upcoming application deadlines. The following tournament applications are now open and will close on Tuesday, June 18, at 5 p.m. ET.
The Davis Love Junior Open will be played on the Plantation Course at Sea Island Golf Course in St. Simons, Ga., July 22 – 25. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 45 Boys’ spots and 17 Girls’ spots.
This marks the first year AJGA alumnus and PGA TOUR player Davis Love III will sponsor an AJGA tournament. Love is no stranger to Sea Island Golf Course. His PGA TOUR event, the McGladrey Classic, is held at the Planation Course’s sister course, the Seaside Course. The Plantation Course brings together all of the classic elements of Southeast Georgia: large oak trees, plentiful flowers and beautiful ocean views.
The David Toms Foundation Shreveport Junior will be played at Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport, La., July 22 – 25. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 61 Boys’ spots and 20 Girls’ spots.
Thirteen-time PGA TOUR winner David Toms, will host the David Toms Foundation Shreveport Junior for the second consecutive year. The Louisiana native and the AJGA will return the tournament to Southern Trace Country Club this year. The David Toms Foundation Shreveport Junior was named the “Sports Event of the Year” by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau at the 2013 P.R.I.D.E. Awards in the Tourism and Sports Partner Awards category.
The Lockton Kansas City Junior will be played at Creekmoor Golf Course in Raymore, Mo., July 22 – 25. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 60 Boys’ spots and 17 Girls’ spots.
Lockton Companies has sponsored this Kansas City tournament since 2003. This will be the first year the event will be held at Creekmoor Golf Course. Built next to Lake Creekmoor, the course features zoysia fairways and 65 sand bunkers.
The William Penn Junior Championship will be played on the North Course at Stonewall Links in Elverson, Pa., July 22 – 25. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 62 Boys’ spots and 19 Girls’ spots.
In its second year, the William Penn Junior Championship will return to the North Course at Stonewall Links. The North Course’s claim to fame is the complex and contouring greens. Set back in the farmlands of Pennsylvania, Stonewall Links transports visitors back in time. The cart barn is an actual barn with an adorning 13-star American Flag.
The Junior All-Star at Talbot will be played at Talbot County Club in Easton, Md., July 22 – 25. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 67 Boys’ spots and 21 Girls’ spots.
The Junior All-Star at Talbot is part of the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series. This will be the first Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy event held at the Talbot Country Club. Founded in 1910, the Talbot Country Club is the oldest golf club on the Delmarva Peninsula. The club’s landscape features views of Chesapeake Bay.
The Bob Jones Junior Championship will be played at Yorba Linda Country Club in Yorba, Calif., July 22 – 25. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 47 Boys’ spots and 17 Girls’ spots.
New to the AJGA schedule this year is the Bob Jones Junior Championship. This will also be the first time Yorba Linda Country Club will host an AJGA event. The par-71 course was built for strategy with tree-lined fairways, water hazards, well-place bunkers and elevated greens.
