Spieth Contends at HP Byron Nelson


The golf world was abuzz through the weekend, as not only did Jordan Spieth make the cut at the HP Byron Nelson Championship, but was tied for seventh place heading into the final round. Playing his first Tour event in his hometown of Dallas, Spieth had the vocal support of thousands of hometown fans and he did not disappoint.

To junior golf followers, Spieth is the ultra-talented Rolex Junior Player of the Year, who sits firmly atop the Polo Golf Rankings. He has not finished outside the top 10 at a junior golf tournament during the past year, and considering that he sticks to the major events, that is saying something.

Spieth won the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur, finished runner-up at the HP Boys Championship at Carlton Woods, reached the semifinals of the 2009 Polo Golf Junior Classic, and placed fourth at the 2009 FootJoy Invitational. His foray onto the PGA TOUR was an extension of his junior success.
