Get to know L.B.

  • What’s one thing people don’t know about you? I'd say the fact that blows everyone away is that I moved to 13 different schools. The crazier fact is, from junior year to senior year, I went to three different schools, in three different states at a minimum of 10 hours away from each other.
  • Were you involved in golf before the AJGA? How were you introduced? I was involved in golf for over a decade before I came to the AJGA. I was the captain of my high school golf team, then moved into being a golf professional after I graduated high school. I remained a golf professional throughout college and joined the AJGA as a finance intern upon graduation. I was first introduced to the game by my dad and grandfather in late elementary school.
  • What sports did you play growing up? Any significant accomplishments? I played a lot of different sports growing up. When I was younger, I played football, basketball and baseball. Once I got into middle school, I tried soccer but immediately went back to football. No knock against soccer but I liked contact, and I got penalized wayyyyy too much. In high school, I played football and golf, lettering twice in each. My significant accomplishments were in golf where I made it to state my junior year in Louisiana, and then in my senior year at Jackson County High School in Jefferson, GA, I won the county championship.

  • What’s your favorite thing to do outside of the AJGA and golf? I love obstacle course racing. It is something that takes you completely out of your comfort zone and allows you to grow both physically and mentally.
  • Where do you want to go next in your career? Either be a CFO or start my own business.
  • What’s the best day or moment of your life to this point? Favorite moment in my life up to this point is seeing the birth of my son.
  • Who’s been your biggest influence in life? I’ve had a lot of mentors in my life but the one that has been consistent and I couldn’t possibly pick between the two, are my parents. I have never seen two people make more happen in the craziest of situations.
  • What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? No matter how difficult something may be, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving. Hard work trumps talent any day.
  • What’s your dream golf foursome and why? My grandfather, my dad and Tiger Woods. It was something we always agreed on. We spent a lot of time together watching Tiger dominate.
  • Would you rather win an Olympic Medal, an Academy Award or the Nobel Peace Prize? I would rather win the Olympic Medal. I am super competitive. So to win a medal while representing your country, in my opinion, is the highest honor for an athlete.
  • If you could have any superpower, what would you choose? Invincibility
  • What would you do if you won the lottery? The first thing I would do is take care of all my family, close friends and the people who helped me at some point.
  • Would you rather be the best player on a horrible team or the worst player on a great team? Both are enticing and rely on the love of competition. If I was the best player on a horrible team, my sole focus would be elevating those around me and being the best leader I could be. Though seeing the success of a team that used to be horrible is more satisfying, if I were the worst on a great team, I'd work as hard as I could to refine my craft to eventually become the best.
