The fifth annual Swinging Skirts AJGA Invitational returns to The Farms Golf Club August 13-15. The elite field consists of 72 top female junior golfers, 37 former AJGA champions and 19 Rolex Junior All-Americans.
The Invitational has traditionally produced a champion that has gone on to accomplish impressive feats at the next level:
- Andrea Lee, a former Rolex Junior Player of the Year, won the inaugural Invitational in 2014 and is currently one of the top collegiate players. In 2017-18, she was named to the WGCA All-America first team, and in 2016-17, she won PING/WGCA Freshman of the Year.
- Nelly Korda followed up Lee’s performance with her first AJGA victory at the Invitational in 2015, holding off Haley Moore by four strokes. Korda has gone on to win her first pro event on the Symetra Tour, and earned her LPGA Tour card in 2017. This year she recorded her first top-10 in a major at the U.S. Women’s Open. Moore was the hero at the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships, clinching the finals for the University of Arizona.
- In 2016, Miranda Wang, a future All-ACC performer at Duke University, won by a single stroke. In 2017, the previous year’s runner-up, three-time Rolex Junior All-American Yujeong Son, returned to claim the title at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club.
History has proven that top performers at the Swinging Skirts AJGA Invitational have a bright future, and the 2018 field will look to replicate that success in the coming years.
