Tavatanakit leads looking for second straight Invitational win
Paphangkorn Tavatanakit leads after the first round with a 3-under-par 69. Tavatanakit established herself as a player to beat after a victory last week at the Rolex Tournament of Champions. The 16-year-old has played in seven AJGA events and won three of them. Tavatanakit will tee off the No. 1 tee at 9:20 a.m. tomorrow.
The Bird is the Word
Among the leader and the three players tied for second, there were a combined 20 birdies. The first-round leader Paphangkorn Tavatanakit carded eight of the 20.
Hole-in-one Action
Morgan Lay of Austin, Texas, shocked the crowd and made the first hole-in-one of the event. Into the wind on the 162-yard par-3 No. 6, the ball bounced and rolled into the hole. Lay tees off on No. 10 tee at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.
