Three Things for Friday at #PoloGolfJC

polofridaythreethings.jpg
  • For the first time in her AJGA career, stroke-play medalist Mariel Galdiano has reached the finals of the Polo Golf Junior Classic.  In 2014, Galdiano was defeated in the Round of 16 by Bethany Wu. If Galdiano wins, she would become the first 1-seed to win the Polo Golf Junior Classic since Vicky Hurst in 2007. She tees off against 19-seed Muni He at 8:15 a.m.

  • Cooper Dossey and Ryan Gerard will both be making their Polo Golf Junior Classic championship match debuts. Dossey was knocked out in the Round of 16 in 2014, while Gerard has never competed at the event. Both players will be looking to earn their first AJGA Invitational victories.

  • The Muni He and Mariel Galdiano match is one with the potential to become a long-time rivalry. He is a verbal commit to USC while Galdiano will play for UCLA next year. Galdiano has already knocked out one USC Trojan during match play when she defeated Alyaa Abdulghany in the quarterfinals.
