Three Things for Thursday at the 2016 #PoloGolfJC

Here's three things to look for during the quarterfinal and semifinal matches at the Polo Golf Junior Classic:

  • Rolex Junior Players of the Year Noah Goodwin and Paphangkorn Tavatanakit are both in contention for the Polo Golf Junior Classic title. The Rolex Player of the Year has gone on to win the Polo Golf Junior Classic in 15 instances. In 1991, both the Boys Rolex Junior Player of the Year (Tiger Woods) and the Girls Rolex Junior Player of the Year (Emilee Klein) went on to win.
  • Since the event came to PGA National Resort & Spa in 2009, the only Rolex Player of the Year to also win the Polo Golf Junior Classic was Ariya Jutanugarn in 2012. In the Boys Division, Jordan Spieth in 2009 and Anthony Paolucci in 2010 made it the farthest into the semifinals.
  • A couple of match play veterans take on the quarterfinals this morning. This is Davis Shore’s first quarterfinal appearance in any match play event. The senior from Knoxville, Tennessee, faces off against Noah Norton of Chico, California, in the first match of the quarterfinals. In the Girls Division, Alyaa Abdulghany aced No. 16 on the Fazio course during her first round of match play. This was her third career hole-in-one, and second one of her 2016 season (first at Wyndham Cup).
