TOUR Highlights: August 7



In-Kyung Kim won the Ricoh Women’s British Open in Fife, Scotland, on August 6. She carded 15 birdies and an eagle over the event to finish with a two-stroke margin of victory at 18-under-par 270.

Kim competed with the AJGA in the 2005-06 seasons. All of the two-time Rolex Junior All-American’s finishes were inside of the top 10. Kim earned two national junior golf event titles in 2005: the Hargray Junior Classic and the U.S. Girls’ Junior.

Martin Piller won the Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae in Hayward, California. He tallied 21 birdies and an eagle on his way to a one-stroke victory over fellow AJGA alumn Brandon Harkins. The victory marks Piller’s sixth Tour title.

Piller was an AJGA junior for three years (1999, 2001 and 2004) before competing at Texas A&M University. During his time as a junior, he earned eight top-20 finishes including runner-up finishes at the 2001 Lockton Kansas City Junior and the 2001 AJGA Compaq Junior All-Star Classic at Kingwood.

 Symetra Tour

Becca Huffer finished third in the PHC Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She recorded seven birdies in the final round to catapult herself from outside of the top 10 into the top three. Huffer had a tournament-total 17 birdies to finish at 9-under-par 207.

Huffer earned 13 top-10 finishes during her four-year AJGA career (2004-007) including four runner-up campaigns. In 2007 she competed in both the U.S. Girls’ Junior and the U.S. Women’s Amateur, exiting in the first round of match play. After her junior career, Huffer went on to earn four All-Big East Team honors while golfing collegiately at Notre Dame.

Charley Hoffman finished third at the World Golf Championships – Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio. He carded 21 birdies which was good for the second-most in the tournament. Hoffman finished at 10-under-par 270 to finish six strokes off the lead.

Hoffman competed with the AJGA for three years. While an AJGA junior, he tallied nine top-20 finishes including a tournament title at the 1994 Azahara Munoz Championship by Transamerica.
