U.S. Women's Amateur Preview


This week 134 AJGA members and alumnae are competing in the U.S. Women's Amateur at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, California. AJGA members account for 86 percent of the 156 player field for the tournanent which will be played over six days.

Among the AJGA members is the top-ranked player in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Lucy Li of Redwood Shores, California. Li won the Junior PGA Championship in 2016 and the ANA Junior Inspiration in 2017. She also competed for the West Team in the 2017 Wyndham Cup.

Joining Li in the field is No. 2 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Rachel Heck of Memphis, Tennessee. Heck has played in four AJGA tournaments in 2017, including a win at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship and a runner-up finish at the Thunderbird International Junior. She also took home a top-five finish at the ANNIKA Invitational.

Along with Li and Heck, there are six other players in the top 10 of the Rolex AJGA Rankings in the field: No. 4 Alyaa Abdulghany, No. 6 Erica Shepherd, No. 7 Youngin Chun, No. 8 Rose Zhang, No. 9 Jennifer Chang and No. 10 Brooke Seay.
