Acushnet Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Wally Uihlein has been named recipient of the 2005 PGA Distinguished Service Award. Uihlein, a long-time senior executive of Titleist, will be honored at the 87th PGA Championship, Aug. 8-14, at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.
Under Uihlein's leadership Titleist became the AJGA's National Sponsor in 1989 and has continued to be a catalyst to the Association's growth since that time.
The PGA Distinguished Service Award honors outstanding Americans who display leadership and humanitarian qualities, including integrity, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the game of golf. It is The PGA of America's highest honor. The list of previous recipients includes Bob Hope (1989), Byron Nelson (1993), Jack Nicklaus (2000), and Pete Dye (2004).
