Weekend wrap-up (June 2)

Stacy Lewis secured her 10th LPGA Tour win at the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer finishing with a 16-under par 197. Her six-shot victory moved her into the coveted No. 1 spot in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings and consequently ended fellow AJGA alum Inbee Park’s 59-week span at the top.

Lewis played in eight AJGA tournaments during the 2001 and 2002 seasons. Her junior career was highlighted by a T4 finish at the 2002 Aaron’s / Bob Estes Abilene Junior and a seventh-place finish at the 2002 Junior All-Star at Colonial.

The most decorated women’s golfer in the University of Arkansas history, her collegiate career concluded as a four-time All-SEC and four-time All-American selection. Lewis was a two-time SEC champion, as a freshman in 2005 and as a senior in 2008. As a junior, she won the 2007 NCAA individual title and was presented the Dinah Shore Trophy.

Japan’s Hideka Matsuyama claimed the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, after a playoff with AJGA alum

Kevin Na.

Na finished second with a tournament-total 13-under-par 275 but lost in a one-hole playoff. The two-time Rolex Junior All-American competed from 1997-2001 claiming two AJGA victories and runner-up finishes at the 2000 Thunderbird International Junior and 2001 Rolex Tournament of Champions. At the age of 17, Na turned professional in 2001.

Finishing in third, 2014 Masters Champion Bubba Watson, carded a 12-under-par 276.  Watson played with the AJGA from 1992-97 and was a three-time Rolex Junior All-American. Before turning professional in 2003, Watson played on the University of Georgia golf team where he helped win the 2000 SEC title.
