Brandt Snedeker fired a final-round 2-under-par 68 for a three-shot victory at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, Sept. 20-23, capturing the FedEx Cup. The win in Atlanta marks his fourth career PGA TOUR title and second of the season.
During his junior career, Snedeker posted three top-20 AJGA finishes and received Rolex Junior All-America honorable mention honors in 1998. He also earned individual medalist honors at the 1998 AJGA Music City Junior Team Challenge, where his team of Adam Shanks, Noble Judy and Alan Weant took the top prize.
The Tennessee-native attended Vanderbilt University where he received All-SEC honors three years in a row. During his senior season, Snedeker was named SEC Male Golfer of the Year, becoming the first Commodore to receive the distinction, after a year that included seven top-10 finishes and three victories. Before turning professional in 2003, he won the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.
Stacy Lewis notched her third LPGA Tour victory in five months at the Navistar LPGA Classic, Sept. 20-23, in Prattville, Ala. Lewis closed with a 3-under-par 69 to hold off defending-champion Lexi Thompson by two strokes. With her win, Lewis reclaimed the No. 2 spot in the Rolex Rankings.
Lewis AJGA career included nine tournaments, highlighted by a T4 finish at the 2002 Aarons / Bob Estes Abilene Junior and a seventh-place finish at the 2002 Junior All-Star at Colonial. Following her junior career, she attended the University of Arkansas. A four-time All-American, Lewis recorded 12 collegiate victories and was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2005.
