Zhang wins U.S. Girls' Junior Championship

The two-time Rolex Junior Player of the Year won her second USGA title at the 72nd U.S. Girls' Junior Championship

Two-time Rolex Junior Player of the Year Rose Zhang of Irvine, California, won the 72nd U.S. Girls' Junior Championship at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland, on July 17, 2021. She defeated fellow AJGA player Bailey Davis of White Plains, Maryland, 6&4 in the 36-hole championship match to claim a second USGA title.

Zhang was the stroke play medalist with rounds of 69-62. As the No. 1 seed for match play, Zhang defeated fellow AJGA players Lauryn Nguyen of Katy, Texas, Rianne Mikhaela Malixi of (Philippines) San Bernardino, California, Amari Avery of Riverside, California, Yana Wilson of Henderson, Nevada, Paula Miranda of Puebla, Mexico, and Davis on her way to winning the title.

Zhang also captured the U.S. Women's Amateur title 11 months ago at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland. In addition, she is the longtime No. 1 player in both the Women's World Amateur Golf Rankings and the Rolex AJGA Rankings.

Zhang will attend and play golf at Stanford University in the fall. She is a five-time Rolex Junior All-American (2016-2020) and owns 10 AJGA tournament wins, including eight Invitationals.

Davis will play college golf at the University of Tennessee in the fall. She has competed in AJGA tournaments since 2018 and earned five top-25 finishes. Her highest finish in an AJGA tournament was T4 at the 2019 Swinging Skirts AJGA Invitational. In 2019 and 2020, Davis was named to the AJGA Scholastic Honor Roll.
