Maybank takes Boys Division lead after second round 5-under-par 67

PJ Maybank of Cheboygan, Michigan, carded the lowest round of the day to take the solo lead of the Boys Division. He fired a bogey-free round of 5-under-par 67. Maybank had five birdies throughout his round. Maybank has played in the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands since 2017; his best finish was in 2019 where he finished T10.

August Meekhof of Eastmanville, Michigan, and Joshua Qian of Westerville, Ohio, are T2 at 4-under-par 140. Meekhof carded a 2-under-par 70 in both the first and second round to get into contention. He had four birdies throughout his round. Qian, the first round leader, scored an even-par 72 to stay near the top of the leaderboard. He finished 16th at the 2019 AJGA Junior at San Jose presented by Live View Golf; it is his best finish in an AJGA tournament.

Ali Khan of Westerville, Ohio, and Tyler Gillespie of Grand Rapids, Michigan, are T4 at 3-under-par 141. Khan finished his round with an eagle to card a 3-under-par 69. During his round, Gillespie had seven birdies to score 2-under-par 70.

Gianna Clemente of Warren, Ohio, continues to dominate the course through two rounds of play. She ended round two with five birdies and a 3-under-par 69 to take the lead by five strokes at 5-under-par 139. This is Clemente's first AJGA tournament. She has competed in one other national junior golf tournament this year, finishing T27 at the Kathy Whitworth Invitational. Along with having the lowest score, Clemente has the youngest age in the tournament at just 12 years old.

In second at even-par 144 is Kary Hollenbaugh of New Albany, Ohio. Hollenbaugh finished with the lowest score of the day in the Girls Division coming in at 4-under-par 68. She sunk five birdies with only one bogey. Hollenbaugh's best AJGA finish was T6 at the Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation Junior All-Star.

In third at 1-over-par 145 is Ashley Yen of Houston. Yen finished the day with four birdies. Yen won the 2018 AJGA Preview at The Republic.
