Sawka takes early lead

At the conclusion of the first round of play, Bradley Sawka of Ellington, Connecticut, is your solo Boys Division leader at even-par 71. Sawka has one top-5 finish in his AJGA career and is looking for his first win this week. In 2017 he was the PGA Connecticut Section JGA Player of the Year.

Tied for second are Matthew Doyle of Madison, Connecticut, Joseph Lenane of Dedham, Massachusetts, and Barnes Blake of Westfield, New Jersey. The trio finished the day at one-over-par 72. Doyle is coming off of a win at the Connecticut Junior Amateur. Lenane has one AJGA top 10 finish, and Blake has one AJGA top 5 finish.

In the Girls Division, Riley Quartermain of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, has the solo lead at 3-over-par 74. Quartermain attends Haverford High School where she is a three-year District 1 (Class AAA) Qualifier and a 3-year first team All-Central League golfer.

Tied for second is Angelina Kim of Tenafly, New Jersey, and Katie Dzialga of Greenwich, Connecticut. They both left the scoring tent at 4-over-par 75 putting themselves into great position for the final round. Kim won the 2019 UHY Prep Series New York and Dzialga has verbally committed to Harvard University.
