Ovard shot five birdies on the day to hold a two shot lead over Daniel Zou of The Woodlands, Texas. Ovard, a 2023 graduate, is currently No. 241 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. He is looking for his first AJGA win after a top-10 finish at the AJGA Junior All-Star Invitational presented by adidas Golf in October.
Zou is tied for second after shooting a 1-under-par 71 which included five birdies. The 2024 graduate is also looking for his first AJGA win and finished in the top-15 of the AJGA Junior All-Star Invitational presented by adidas Golf in October. Also in a tie for second is Jonathan Meng of (Canada) Houston, Texas. The 2023 graduate carded four birdies on the day. Rounding out the top five are Sahish Reddy of Atlanta, and Charley Levy of Camarillo, California, both at even-par 72.
Martina Yu of British Columbia, Canada, leads the Girls Division after shooting an even-par 72 that included four birdies. Yu battled through high winds to card the only even-par round in the Girls Division. The 2024 graduate is searching for her first AJGA win in her fifth AJGA event.
In a three-way tie for second place are Alexsandra Lapple of Pinehurst, North Carolina, Nicole Iniakov of Prunedale, California, and Amelie Zalsman of Redlands, California, at 1-over-par 73. Zalsman is the youngest player in the field and is a 2027 graduate.
