Boys Division Champion: Daniel Zou, The Woodlands, Texas (3-under-par 213)
Zou came from behind during the final round to claim his first AJGA tournament win. The 2024 graduate had back-to-back eagles on Nos. 3 and 4 to start the round and quickly take the lead. He would eventually make double bogey on No. 16 to put himself in a tie with Davis Ovard of Frisco, Texas. The players faced off four times on No. 18, each making pars before moving on to No. 9. Zou hit his tee shot to two feet on the Par 3 and tapped in for birdie to end the playoff and claim the win.

Zou has four top-10 AJGA finishes and a top-15 finish at the AJGA Junior All-Star Invitational presented by adidas Golf. Currently No. 263 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Zou carded the low final round, shooting a 2-under-par 70.

It means everything to win this event. This has been a tough year for me. I tore a tendon this summer and took two months off. So I have been working through recovery to come for this event.

Sophie Anand - 2021 - Dominican Junior Open (4).JPG

Girls Division Champion: Sophie Anand, Windermere, Florida (7-over-par 223)
Anand came into the tournament No. 560 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings after only competing in one AJGA event previously. She posted a T4 finish at the 2019 CBS Sports Preview at Forsgate (Ages 12-15) in her only other AJGA start. Anand led heading into the final round and shot a 2-over-par 74 to get into a two-way playoff with Amelie Zalsman of Redlands, California. The girls played No. 9 where Anand made par to end the playoff and win the tournament. With wind conditions high, she was one of the only girls to shoot a round of even-par or better. Anand has signed a National Letter of Intent to play college golf at Auburn University.

It's awesome to travel this far for an event and to win on a really difficult course. Winning an AJGA tournament is a really big confidence booster moving into next year.
