Kim Makes a Big Statement

Lauren Kim of (Canada) Surrey, British Columbia, improves her place on the leaderboard to solo first with a tournament total of 5-under-par 139 and a second round of 4-under-par 68. The Canadian had six birdies today bringing her tournament total to 17. In August 2020, she had a top-5 finish in the MJT Odlum Brown Classic hosted by the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour.

In second with a tournament score of 2-under-par 142 and round score of 2-under-par 70 is Michelle Liu of (Canada) Vancouver, British Columbia. In March 2021, Liu was named the champion of the Canadian Junior Golf Association's Humber College PGM CJGA Western Canadian Junior Championship.

Jessica Mason of Westminster, Colorado, finished the day in solo third with a score of 1-under-par 71 and a tournament score even- par 144. Mason had three birdies and one eagle.

Jeffrey Nelson II of Commerce City, Colorado, leads the Boys Division at 4-under-par 140 after a 2-under-par 70 day. Nelson had five birdies in the round. He is verbally committed to Colorado State University- Pueblo.

Cade McLaughlin of Princeton, New Jersey, is in solo second at 3-under-par 141 after carding the low round of the day, 4-under-par 68. McLaughlin had four birdies and an eagle on No. 3.

In third at 1-over-par 143 is Owen Cornmesser of Fort Collins, Colorado. Cornmesser had four birdies today.

Hunter Swanson of Denver, Colorado, is in solo fourth at even-par 144. Swanson was named the 2020 Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado Boys Player of the Year.

Matthew Spaulding of Spring, Texas, and Asher Whitaker of Wichita, Kansas, share fifth at 1-over-par 145. Spaulding finished the round 3-over-par 75 and Whitaker 1-over-par 73.
