Matthew NeSmith to host second AJGA tournament

PGA TOUR professional Matthew NeSmith will be hosting his second AJGA tournament at the Forest Lake Club from August 2nd - 5th, 2021. NeSmith is a former AJGA player and was named the Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 2012. The 54-hole stroke-play tournament will be composed of a Boys and Girls Division, ages 12-19. A qualifier will be taking place at the Forest Lake Club on August 1st, 2021.

Players to watch

  • Reagan Southerland of Atlanta, Georgia, is the top ranked Girls Division golfer in the Rolex AJGA Rankings (No. 110). Southerland will be seeking her first career AJGA victory. Since 2020, the 2023 graduate has had six top-15 finishes including a seventh place finish at 2020 Visit Sanford Junior Open.
  • Elizabeth Rudisill of Charlotte, North Carolina, is currently ranked No. 222 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. Rudisill will be seeking her second career AJGA victory of the 2021 season. The 2025 graduate was recently victorious at the AJGA Junior at Oldfield.
  • Adam Hunt of Columbia, South Carolina, is the top ranked Boys Division golfer in the Rolex AJGA Rankings (No. 214). Hunt will be seeking his first ever AJGA victory. Hunt recently finished T3 at the AJGA Junior at Canebrake Club.
  • Mohit Balaji of Kissimmee, Florida, is currently ranked No. 299 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. Balaji will be seeking his first career AJGA victory. Balaji is coming off a top-three finish at the Sam Burns Classic at The Landings Club two weeks ago.

Qualifying Tournament
More juniors may earn entry into the 2021 Matthew NeSmith Junior Championship through an 18-hole qualifying tournament. The qualifying tournament is set for Sunday, August 1st, at the Forest Lake Club in Columbia, South Carolina with a field of 78 Boys and Girls Division golfers. The top-ten qualifier finishers for the boys and the top-three finishers for the girls will advance into the Matthew NeSmith Junior Championship tournament field. The full qualifier field is here.
