The Woodlands, Texas - The Patrick Reed AJGA Junior Championship has been honored with the 2022 Volunteer Award. This is the 13th tournament award received by the event in its 32-year history.

The tournament averaged over 50 volunteers per day with its peak amount at 62 volunteers. Over the course of the event, 130 unique volunteers were present working diligently to help the event run smoothly.

Volunteers are an integral part of AJGA tournaments and add an extra layer of support to each carefully outlined event. Volunteers greatly contribute to the success of a tournament and serve as a helping hand in the event. Volunteers aid with timing stations, manage shuttles, as well as assist in additional volunteer check-in. More duties include helping with registration, supporting as spotters, and driving range attendants. Sharon Heuer, who has been a longtime volunteer for over 20 years said, "I love watching the kids play and now I have a grandson who plays in the AJGA.”

"We are, as a club, thanks to our volunteers and volunteer chairs, are really appreciative of receiving the 2022 Volunteer of the Year award for our tournament. We are very proud of the fact that we've had 120 volunteers last year and this year and that in general we are especially proud of the support the volunteers give us as, in addition to volunteering, donating last year over $5000 and this year over $6000,” said Tournament Co-Chairman, Bob Lewis. “We are very proud of the volunteers. We love being able to put the name placards out on the driving range for the boys and girls, young men and women. We love the fact that we have spotters and shuttles, and we are just very proud of our effort here and we appreciate the award.”

Donations from volunteers raised over $5,000 for the event in 2022. These volunteers exceed expectations in not only service, but charity as well. Volunteers contributed their time and money to the event and have proven their willingness to go the extra mile. "I enjoy watching the kids play, its a great social activity" stated one volunteer.

Volunteers received a shirt and hat for their service. The AJGA acknowledges the role of volunteers is crucial and charitable as their hard work is recognized.

At the conclusion of the event, the AJGA attended a volunteer dinner that was held to celebrate the dedication and time each volunteer gave to the tournament. They were recognized by the Tournament Committee at the dinner as Bob Lewis discussed the tournament and thanked everyone for lending a hand. It is important that the volunteers’ commitment is seen and they are granted the appreciation of the AJGA as well as the members of the Tournament Committee.
