Braselton, GA - The 13th edition of the PING Junior Solheim Cup is 200 days away and the initial US Team standings are here.

This year's PING Junior Solheim Cup will be held September 9-10 at Army-Navy Country Club - Arlington Course in Arlington, Virginia. The United States leads the all-time series 7-4-1. The United States last won in 2019 in a close battle, 13-11, at Gleneagles - Kings Course in Gleneagles, Scotland.

The 2024 US Team will be led by a Captain named at a later date. They will join a long list of legendary past captains including Renee Powell, the late Kathy Whitworth, Mary Bea Porter-King, Amy Alcott and Nancy Lopez. 2023 Vice Captain, Libby Burroughs, will return to her role this fall.

The US team selection will be based on the following criteria :

  • Participants must be citizens of United States of America
  • Participants must be 12-18 years old
  • Participants must be current AJGA members in good standing
  • Participants must be amateurs and must not be members of a competitive collegiate golf program in order to be eligible to play in the PING Junior Solheim Cup
  • The leading five qualified players on the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Girls Rankings list as of the Rankings update July 23, 2024. In the event of a tie for the fifth place, the selection will be determined by individual standings on the Rolex AJGA Rankings.
  • The leading five qualified players based on the Rolex AJGA Rankings list not otherwise selected (having selected the five players from the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Girls Rankings first) as of the Rankings update July 23, 2024.  In the event of a tie for the fifth place, the selection will be decided by individual standing on the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Girls Rankings list.
  • The Captain will choose the remaining two players for the PING Junior Solheim Cup team on or before August 6, 2024. The Captain’s selections will be required to be among the qualified top point earners on either of the aforementioned lists and/or have distinguished records in USGA events.

Familiar AJGA faces are among the contenders to make the 2024 US Team. They include 2023 US Team members Asterisk Talley of Chowchilla, California, Gianna Clemente of Estero, Florida, Ryleigh Knaub of Debary, Florida, Kathryn Ha of Roanoke, Virginia, and Irene Kim of Woodstock, Maryland, who are all ranked inside the top-20 of the Rolex AJGA Rankings.

About The PING Junior Solheim Cup

The PING Junior Solheim Cup 2024 is to be played at the Army Navy Country Club, Arlington, Virginia, September 8 -10, immediately ahead of The Solheim Cup, which is staged at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, Gainesville, Virginia, September 13-15.

The PING Junior Solheim Cup is a team match play competition between Europe and the United States, each team featuring the best 12 female golfers born 2006 and later (18 years and younger).

The competition consists of 24 matches – six foursome matches, six fourball matches and 12 singles matches.

The aim of the competition is to give juniors the opportunity to further their golfing careers by playing match play at a high level and for the competitors to meet, learn and be inspired by the professional players playing in The Solheim Cup.

The 2024 event marks the 13th time the PING Junior Solheim Cup team will be contested, with the U.S. Team currently leading the series 7-4-1. In 2023, Europe defended the trophy winning 15-9 at La Zagaleta in Spain.

The PING Junior Solheim Cup was established by PING CEO and Chairman, John Solheim, back in 2002 and since has developed a deserved reputation for showcasing the talents of the world’s best female junior players, with players like Rose Zhang, Carlota Ciganda, Linn Grant, Lexi Thompson and Korda sisters, Nelly and Jessica, all playing in the match before graduating to The Solheim Cup.
