Bowling Green, Fla. - After the second round of competition, Luke Colton of Frisco, Texas, holds the solo lead after shooting a second consecutive 5-under-par 67 for a tournament total 10-under-par 134 at the Team TaylorMade Invitational at Streamsong Resort on the Black Course.
With temperatures in the mid 90s, players showed their familiarity with the course and took advantage of the scoring conditions. During the second round, 29 players shot under par.
This is the fifth playing of the Team TaylorMade Invitational and features some of the most talented junior golfers in the world. The event is supported by AJGA Global Sponsor TaylorMade Golf and moves annually to different venues throughout the country.
In tie for first after the first round, Colton came out and did much of the same in the second round. He started the day with a birdie on No. 1 and carded two more to make the turn at 3-under-par 33. He also started the back nine with a birdie on No. 10, one more most difficult holes on the golf course. He would card two more birdies and a bogey to finish the round at 5-under-par 67.
"I birdied six and that felt good, everybody in my group was playing well today and that was huge for me. I think a birdie on 10 was also really big, it was a tough hole. Overall, I think having a group where everybody is playing well, it's just good mojo and when you see good shots, usually you'll hit a better shot."
Colton came into the event at No. 4 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. The Vanderbilt University commit is playing in his first Team TaylorMade Invitational after a top-10 finish at the AJGA Simplify Boys Championship at Carlton Woods in February. He is looking for his second AJGA win and first Invitational victory.
