The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is proud to recognize The Wyndham Clark presented by the Colorado Golf Association as the recipient of the 2025 Game Changer Award, honoring an event that has greatly improved since the previous year.
Held for the eighth consecutive year at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve, the tournament reached new heights in 2025 with its first year featuring Wyndham Clark as Title Sponsor. A former AJGA junior standout and one of Colorado’s most accomplished professional golfers, Clark competed in AJGA events from 2007-12, recording multiple victories and top finishes before advancing to collegiate and professional success. His partnership brought added prestige and visibility to one of the AJGA’s premier events.
“Seeing the tournament recognized as Gamechanger of the Year is incredibly special. This event means a lot to me—not just because of my name on it, but because of what it represents for the next generation of golfers. I’m proud to help create opportunities for these kids to compete, grow, and believe they belong at the highest level. This award is a reflection of everyone involved who’s committed to pushing the game forward.”
Among the year’s highlights was an exclusive virtual Q&A session featuring Wyndham Clark and Julie Elion. Clark shared insight from his journey through junior golf to the PGA TOUR, while Elion, widely respected for her work in performance psychology with elite athletes, provided valuable perspective on confidence, focus and the mental side of competition.
“The Wyndham Clark AJGA event is a great example of collaboration in the best sense of the word. The net result is a well-run event, at a high-quality facility, showcasing the next generation of golf talent while raising money for a great cause. The CGA is proud to be in such a great foursome—City of Westminster, AJGA, Wyndham Clark and the Play Big Foundation, and the Colorado Golf Foundation.”
The event also delivered its strongest financial performance to date, generating over $81,000 in total revenue. More than $48,000 was given back to charity, marking the highest total in tournament history and benefiting both the Colorado Golf Foundation, which supports youth golf development, caddie programs, and scholarship opportunities across the state, and the AJGA Foundation, which provides financial assistance to junior golfers while promoting inclusivity and access to the game. Participation also reached new milestones, with 21 paying teams in the Junior-Am, setting another event record.
The success of the championship was also driven by strong partnerships at the host venue, where Walnut Creek Golf Preserve continued to provide a first-class setting and outstanding support throughout tournament week. Entering its eighth year as host, Walnut Creek has become synonymous with the event’s continued growth, offering championship-caliber conditions, a welcoming atmosphere and a consistent commitment to the junior golf experience.
“Our partnership with the CGA and AJGA has been amazing – together we’ve provided a fantastic community-based golf championship that is built on these relationships and has delivered exceptional experiences that complements our values for a vibrant community."
Player experience remained a top priority throughout the week. Competitors were provided with a meal following the first round, while Municipal donated shirts for players and Junior-Am participants.
Behind the scenes, the event was powered by an exceptional volunteer effort, with more than 20 volunteers serving each day to ensure smooth operations and a first-class experience for all involved. Their dedication continued to be a defining part of the tournament’s long-term success.
“Much of the success for tournament week is due to the volunteers, many who return year after year. The volunteer support includes community members opening up their houses to provide housing for AJGA staff, on-course volunteers who work through weather delays, and even some who travel several hours to volunteer. In addition, I have observed many friendships develop that last all year long, including my own with many volunteers. The volunteers are a truly special group to the tournament’s success.”
The Game Changer Award will be officially presented at this year’s The Wyndham Clark Presented by the Colorado Golf Association, held June 1-4, 2026, at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve in Westminster, Colorado.
