Greensboro, N.C. — Less than 24 hours after qualifying for the U.S. Open, Jackson Ormond carried that momentum to Sedgefield Country Club, firing a 6-under-par 64 to take the first round lead at the Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey.

With temperatures in the mid-70s, players were greeted by mostly cloudy skies as they navigated the par-70 Sedgefield Country Club. The steady conditions provided ample scoring opportunities throughout the day, with 13 players finishing the opening round under par.

This marks the 18th playing of the Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey and the tournament’s 14th consecutive year at the Donald Ross-designed Sedgefield Country Club.

In first after the opening round, Ormond wasted no time finding his rhythm, opening with a birdie on the 412-yard par-4 No. 1 before adding another on the 162-yard par-3 No. 3. He remained bogey-free on the front nine, highlighted by an eagle on the 526-yard par-5 No. 5. Ormond added back-to-back birdies on Nos. 8 and 9 to make the turn at 6-under-par, carrying strong momentum and positioning himself atop the leaderboard.

"I hit pretty good drives, which made it a lot easier. From there, I had a lot of good numbers coming in and was able to hit some good iron shots pretty tight on those second shots, so it made it a lot easier."
