Inseoul Jiamanukoonkit and Amber Lee, both of San Diego, California, share the lead after the second round of the Rolex Girls Junior Championship, each carding a 2-under-par 70.
I am very in the present and take one shot at a time, and I hit my shots really good, which let me have a lot of opportunities for birdies. I feel a little bit nervous, but mostly excited to continue playing this course. It's amazing out here!
Jiamanukoonkit, ranked No. 66 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, began on the back nine and recorded birdies on hole Nos. 14 and 15. She added three more birdies on the front nine to move into a tie for first. The University of California, Berkely commit is seeking her first AJGA victory.
Lee started strong with birdies on hole Nos. 12, 13, 15 and 16. A double bogey on hole No. 1 and bogeys on hole Nos. 9 and 11 offset her early momentum, but two additional birdies on the front nine helped her finish at a 2-under-par 70 for the round.
Alisa Davidova and Rina Kawasaki are tied for second place, carding a 2-under-par 70 and 3-under-par 69, respectively, for the round.
Davidova, of Roanoke, Virginia, is competing in her third Rolex Girls Junior Championship. After making three consecutive birdies on hole Nos. 3 through 5, she finished the round at 2-under-par. She is ranked No. 81 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and is seeking her second AJGA victory.
Kawasaki, of Palos Verdes Estates, California, is ranked No. 13 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and is also seeking her second AJGA victory. She recorded a bogey-free round, carding three birdies.
