Weekend wrap-up (April 28)

PGA TOUR
Billy Horschel captured his first PGA TOUR victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, setting a tournament record at TPC Louisiana with a 20-under-par 268. Horschel carded rounds of 67-71-66-64 and tallied 26 birdies over 72 holes.

Horschel compiled six top-20 finishes in AJGA competition from 2003-2005. His AJGA career was highlighted by a second-place finish at the 2005 PING Junior at Mirasol and he finished 11th at the 2005 Rolex Tournament of Champions.

A native of Grant, Fla., Horschel competed at the University of Florida where he was named SEC Player of the Year in 2007 and 2009. He became the fifth player in the program’s history to earn All-America accolades four times in his collegiate career.

LPGA Tour
Coming off a major win at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, Inbee Park took the title at the North Texas LPGA Shootout and solidified her No. 1 spot in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. Park closed with a bogey-free 4-under-par 67 to earn her third victory this season.

Before turning professional in 2007, Park recorded eight career AJGA wins from 2001-2005, including the 2002 Rolex Girls Junior Championship and the 2003 Rolex Tournament of Champions. The five-time Rolex Junior All-American and 2002 Rolex Junior Player of the Year won the U.S. Women’s Open in 2008, making her one of five women in history to win both the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship and U.S. Women’s Open.

Web.com Tour
Will Wilcox won the South Georgia Classic for his first victory on the Web.com Tour. He carded a final-round 1-over-par 73 to finish at 15-under-par 273.

During his junior career, Wilcox competed in three AJGA events including the 2003 Polo Golf Junior Classic where he missed the cut by one stroke. His best finish was runner-up at the 2003 Burgett H. Mooney, Jr. Rome Classic presented by State Mutual Insurance Company.

Before turning pro in 2009, Wilcox played at Clayton State University. A three-time All-American, Wilcox recorded eight victories, including a conference championship.

Symetra Tour
Christine Song overcame a two-shot deficit and prevailed in a two-hole playoff to win her third Symetra Tour title at the Guardian Retirement Championship at Sara Bay. Song finished at 5-under-par 211 to tie Isabelle Boineau and force a playoff.

A three-time Rolex Junior All-American, Song recorded 14 top-10 finishes, including victories at the 2005 OSSO Junior at Oak Tree and the 2006 Rand Graphics-Wildcat Golf Wichita Junior Championship.
