Get to know Caila

- What's one thing people don't know about you? I grew up competitively dancing for 16 years - ballet, tap, contemporary and jazz. I was also on my high school and college dance teams.

- Were you involved in golf before the AJGA? How were you introduced? I had very little experience in golf prior to the internship. Growing up golf was always on TV on Sundays and I loved going to the Wells Fargo at Quail Hollow every year, but that’s about it. I met Lauren Shelly at an Elon job fair my sophomore year, but was too young to apply. When I turned 21 my junior year I applied for the internship and, as they say, the rest is history.

- What's your favorite AJGA experience/memory? My 2016 summer internship (S/O to team 1) – we were mainly in the Northeast and spent time in NYC, hiked in Vermont, went to Canada and got to witness Bills Mafia in action in Buffalo. Since then some of the highlights have been Masters 2019, JAX Beach 2019, Rules of Golf Exam 2020, the Junior PLAYERS Championship, ANA Junior Inspiration, and the HV3 Junior All-Star.
- What's your favorite thing to do outside of the AJGA and golf? I love to travel, especially when I can tack on a trip after running an event. Since we haven’t been able to do much of that lately I love a good game night, reading, listening to podcasts, and binge watching the latest TV show or docu-series.

- What's the best day or moment of your life to this point? In 2015 I went abroad with Semester at Sea. In four months we sailed around 16,000 nautical miles and visited 4 continents, 11 countries and 41 cities.

- What's your favorite interaction with a junior/sponsor/alumni/etc? This is a tough one because I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with so many amazing stakeholders – golf courses, committees, volunteers & sponsors. Overall, I believe the most meaningful is having the opportunity to work in the Diversity & Inclusion space with others in the golf industry such as Dr. Michael Cooper, the HV3 Foundation and Cameron Champ Foundation who are all dedicated to growing the game and making it more accessible to minorities and under-served communities.

- Who's been your biggest influence in life? I’m gonna have to go with my parents for this – I’m the youngest of four kids and of course wouldn’t be where I am without them. I should also probably give some credit to my dad for my career choice. He’s obsessed with golf and always wants to talk golf and the rules.

- Would you rather win an Olympic Medal, an Academy Award or the Nobel Peace Prize? Nobel Peace Prize
