Jeff Bostic, General Manager and PGA Head Golf Professional at Bellefonte Country Club, was named the 2021 Golf Executive of the Year for his work on the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior presented by Encova Insurance.
AJGA tournament awards annually recognize events with the best individual hospitality, Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament, charitable giving and volunteer base. Awards are also given to the events with the highest media and social media participation. Finally, the AJGA recognizes the year’s most outstanding golf professional, superintendent and general manager, as well as the game-changing tournament, best new event, best Junior All-Star tournament, best Invitational and Open Tournament of the Year.
Bostic's time at Bellefonte Country Club dates back to 2005 when he started as an Assistant Pro. Driven by his passion for the game of golf and inspired by the men who came before him, Bostic worked his way up the ranks at the club, taking over as Head Pro and then General Manager.
The groundwork for the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior presented by Encova Insurance was already in place thanks to the hard work and dedication of previous Head Pro Jack Freeman and General Manager Stan Timberlake, both of whom spent many years at the club. Their love for the event helped make it one of the premier tournaments on the AJGA schedule.
Bostic has gotten to see firsthand just how special this event is, not just to the club, but the community as a whole.
They always tell us that we're one of the most unique sites [on the AJGA schedule]. With all the volunteers we have, we have spotters on every hole and you can really see how the membership at Bellefonte embraces it for the week.
The Natural Resourse Partners Bluegrass Junior presented by Encova Insurance is one of the longest-running tournaments in AJGA history. The first edition of the tournament was held at Springlake Country Club in 1981. Bellefonte Country Club became the permanent home of the event in 1984. Past champions include Justin Thomas, Ben Curtis, Emma Talley, Leigh Anne Hardin and Vicki Goetze.
This is not the first tournament award associated with the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior presented by Encova Insurance. In fact, this is the sixth award given to the tournament since 2008 alone. Previous awards include Charitable Giving, top Junior-Am Fundraising tournament, as well as the Superintendent and Open Tournament of the Year.
The Golf Executive of the Year honor is not lost on Bostic, who hopes to work on this event well into the future.
This award means a whole lot to me. I wouldn't be able to do this without the great staff I have here at Bellefonte Country Club, as well as my wife and two kids who have the patience to let me be away so I can dedicate my time to an event like this. I'm just hoping we hit the 50-year mark and more.
