Team Megha and Team Thor earned their spots in the championship match of the inaugural Team TaylorMade Cup after an exciting day of Four-Ball and Foursomes match play at The Saticoy Club. Team Karl and Team Amari will now compete for third place after a full day of head-to-head competition.
Several juniors delivered standout performances throughout the day. Team Megha's Avery McGrath of Aliso Viejo, California, and Hazel Hooper of Dallas, Texas, finished a perfect 2-0, highlighted by a 1 UP Foursomes victory over Team Karl's Annie Chi and Aubrey Lee after Chi and Lee opened the day with a 5&4 Four-Ball win.
Team Thor had two pairings finish undefeated. Hiroto Ozawa of Tokyo, Japan, and Tiger Yuanjun Liu of Surrey, Canada, went 2-0, earning a 2&1 victory in Four-Ball before closing out the day with a 4&2 win in Foursomes. Anna Norris of Huntsville, Alabama, and Sophia Lee of Fullerton, California, also posted a perfect 2-0 record, defeating Team Amari's Juno Taino and Natalia Henderson in both Four-Ball and Foursomes.
Team Megha's Brayden Verret of Farmers Branch, Texas, and Luke An of Houston, Texas, delivered the decisive point to send their team to the championship match, defeating Team Karl's Yilang Chen and Kevin (Boyang) He, 2&1, in Foursomes.
With the inaugural Team TaylorMade Cup title on the line, the stage is set for an exciting final day of Singles competition.
Four-Ball Overview
The opening Four-Ball session delivered a competitive start to match play as all four teams battled for an early advantage. In the other semifinal, Team Thor carried a one-point advantage into the afternoon after victories from Hiroto Ozawa of Tokyo, Japan, and Tiger Yuanjun Liu of Surrey, Canada, along with Anna Norris of Johns Creek, Georgia, and Sophia Lee of Duluth, Georgia, who both earned 2&1 wins. Team Amari's Ryan Hooker of Oakton, Virginia, and David Kim of Marriottsville, Maryland, claimed a 2&1 victory, while Hailey Kim and Hana McGarry tied their match with Maggie (Jiayi) Ma and Ashley Kim.
