Team Thor captured the inaugural Team TaylorMade Cup title, capping off an impressive week at The Saticoy Club. After advancing through Four-Ball and Foursomes match play, Team Thor battled Team Megha in a tightly contested Singles championship that required a playoff to determine the winner. Fueled by resilience, clutch performances and contributions throughout the lineup, Team Thor became the first champions in Team TaylorMade Cup history.

The championship run began in the opening Four-Ball matches, where Team Thor built early momentum by earning 2.5 points against Team Amari. Hiroto Ozawa of Tokyo, Japan, and Tiger Yuanjun Liu of Surrey, Canada, opened with a 2&1 victory over Lincoln Rubis and Chenxi Wang, while Anna Norris of Huntsville, Alabama, and Sophia Lee of Duluth, Georgia, also earned a 2&1 win over Juno Taino and Natalia Henderson. Beckett McLaughlin and Hudson Justus added a tied match against Team Amari, giving Team Thor the early advantage heading into Foursomes.

Team Thor continued its strong play in the afternoon Foursomes matches, securing two additional victories to earn a spot in the championship match. Ozawa and Liu remained unbeaten with a 4&2 victory over Ryan Hooker and Chenxi Wang, while Norris and Lee earned a 1 UP win over Taino and Henderson to finish the day with perfect 2-0 records. With four points secured across Four-Ball and Foursomes, Team Thor entered the final day with the momentum needed to compete for the title.

With the championship on the line in Singles match play, Team Thor and Team Megha battled through eight tightly contested matches before finishing tied and forcing a playoff to decide the inaugural champion. Ozawa and Norris continued their standout performances with victories in the championship round, finishing the tournament with perfect 3-0 records. In the playoff, Team Thor secured the decisive victory to claim the inaugural Team TaylorMade Cup title and make history at The Saticoy Club.

Championship Overview

The inaugural Team TaylorMade Cup championship match delivered a thrilling finish as Team Thor and Team Megha battled through eight Singles matches before heading to a playoff to decide the first champion in event history.

Team Megha struck first as Brayden Verret of Farmers Branch, Texas, defeated Hudson Justus of Gainesville, Georgia, 1 UP. After a tightly contested match, Verret took control on the final four holes before closing out the victory on No. 18 to give Team Megha an early advantage.

Team Thor answered with a point from Anna Norris of Johns Creek, Georgia, who defeated Amy Weng of San Juan Capistrano, California, 1 UP. Norris remained steady throughout the back-and-forth battle, delivering a crucial point to keep Team Thor within striking distance.

Fernando Javier Leduc of San Juan, Puerto Rico, extended Team Megha’s lead with a 2&1 victory over Tiger Yuanjun Liu of Surrey, Canada. Leduc responded to every challenge down the stretch, earning another important point for his team.

Keira Shavitranuruk of Orlando, Florida, added to Team Megha’s momentum with a 3&1 win over Sophia Lee of Duluth, Georgia. A strong front nine helped Shavitranuruk build a lead she would not relinquish.

Team Thor continued to fight back as Beckett McLaughlin of Austin, Texas, defeated Dev Malik of San Jose, California, 3&2. McLaughlin’s consistent ball striking and steady play secured a much-needed point for Team Thor.

Ashley Kim of Cerritos, California, followed with another point for Team Thor, defeating Avery McGrath of Falls Church, Virginia, 2&1. Kim remained composed under pressure to help bring the match closer heading into the final two contests.

In the seventh Singles match, Hiroto Ozawa of Tokyo, Japan, delivered a pivotal point for Team Thor with a 2&1 victory over Luke An of Houston, Texas. After a back-and-forth battle, Ozawa capitalized on the closing holes to give Team Thor its first lead of the championship match.

The final Singles point came down to Hazel Hooper of Dallas, Texas, and Maggie (Jiayi) Ma of Irvine, California. Hooper secured a 1 UP victory to tie the championship match and send both teams to a playoff.

There was no better way to decide the inaugural Team TaylorMade Cup than with a playoff. In an alternate-shot format, Team Thor’s Maggie (Jiayi) Ma and Hudson Justus battled Team Megha’s Brayden Verret and Luke An on the first playoff hole. Justus delivered a clutch approach shot, setting up Ma for the winning putt and securing the championship for Team Thor.

Third Place Overview

Team Karl and Team Amari battled through eight Singles matches in the third-place matchup before finishing tied, resulting in both teams sharing third place at the inaugural Team TaylorMade Cup.

Team Karl struck first as Kevin (Boyang) He of San Ramon, California, defeated Chenxi Wang of Cupertino, California, 4&2. He’s consistent play gave Team Karl an early advantage, but Team Amari quickly responded as Natalia Henderson of Southern Pines, North Carolina, earned a 1 UP victory over Caroline Gao of Milpitas, California, to even the match.

Lincoln Rubis of Farmers Branch, Texas, gave Team Amari another point with a 3&2 win over Alan Yoda of Temecula, California, before Annie Chi of Placentia, California, and Juno Taino of Pinehurst, North Carolina, battled to a tie, earning a point for each team.

Team Karl regained momentum as Yilang Chen of Irvine, California, edged David Kim of Marriottsville, Maryland, 1 UP, while Erin Le Nguyen of San Jose, California, and Hana McGarry of San Diego, California, also finished tied after a tightly contested match.

Jed Choi of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, added another point for Team Karl with a 3&2 victory over Ryan Hooker of Oakton, Virginia, putting Team Karl in position heading into the final match. Hailey Kim of Simi Valley, California, answered for Team Amari, defeating Aubrey Lee of Stevenson Ranch, California, 3&2 to close out the competition.

After eight competitive Singles matches, Team Karl and Team Amari finished tied and shared third place at the inaugural Team TaylorMade Cup.
