Volunteers help us achieve our mission. Give your time to help change the lives of our junior golfers nationwide.
Chairmen work closely with AJGA staff to build a committee, plan and run a first-class event and recruit a successful team. This role is vital to the overall success of each tournament.
Coordinates sub-committee to solicit local tournament support including: financial sponsors and partners, teams to play in fundraising event, raffle prizes, and trade-outs from community businesses.
Organizes functions for AJGA players, families, staff, college golf coaches and community members. Can assist Fundraising team with donated food & beverage, provide local gifts and personalize event experience.
Recruit team of volunteers and arrange daily schedules to fulfil tournament needs.
Recruit a local volunteer photographer / videographer to assist with capturing content. Develop relationships or contact your local media and arrange for on-site interviews and tournament coverage.
Locate private housing in your club or community for AJGA players and staff. Assist with transportation if needed.
Obtain courtesy vehicles to be used by event committee and AJGA staff. Arrange shuttles from the airport to the host hotel and golf course.
Contact a regional director to learn more about upcoming events and opportunities.
A certified athletic trainer or doctor must be on-site during all tournament and practice rounds. This expert may address concerns like blisters and bee stings or assist in a medical emergency.
Pace of Play
Timing station volunteers monitor pace of play and generally also record player scores as they pass these checkpoints.
Help verify official scores after a round. You may also be called to shuttle scorecards from tents to scoreboard or AJGA staff.
Spotters / Shuttlers
Golf ball spotters and shuttler drivers can keep things moving on the golf course to avoid delays. These volunteers may also have a radio which can help with event communications.
Assist the on-site communications team social media efforts by providing high-quality action photos of players and events.
Product & Coolers
Replenish bottled water, fruit and snacks on the golf course during rounds. This can be a physically-demanding job and requires attention all day.
Assist the AJGA staff with pre-tournament setup including stake and rope, course marking, signage and other operations-related outdoor tasks.
Help players, volunteers or amateurs check in for the event. Provide gifts, check in using tablets and give directions.
Assist the on-site communications team social media efforts by providing high-quality video of players and events.
Scoreboard volunteers can post scores, shuttle scorecards and keep the field up-to-date on scoring during rounds.
Volunteers may assist players and families safely cross roads inside the golf course.
