Getting Started With Your Recruiting Video

Directions and tips on how to record and edit a 2020 college recruiting video for your Junior Plus profile.

Our mission is to provide you every opportunity to gain valuable exposure to college – at our tournaments and through technology.

We know communicating with coaches is even harder today than it has ever been … with fewer national junior golf events, concerns about travel, more financial burden, and uncertainty around college recruiting and coaches travel.

Starting June 5, we’re launching a new platform to help.

Junior Plus members can create and share a video to showcase their personality and golf ability. We will directly share it with our more than 1,200 college coaching members and in your AJGA player profile.

Here’s how to get started:

Member Recruiting Video Introduction Example

Film a brief introduction (15-30 seconds).

Include:

  • Your name, hometown and graduation year.
  • Any specific recruitment details you want coaches to know (example: I’m most interested in schools in Ohio and surrounding states, etc.).
  • The course you will play in the rest of the video.

Golf Shot with Commentary from Player Example

Use the rest of the video to show you playing each shot of a golf hole. Your total video should be no more than three minutes.

Compile this video like a highlight reel:

  • Start on a par 5.
  • Add shots from a par 4 or par 3 if time allows.
  • Don’t include walks from shot to shot or practice routines.
  • Give detail on the club and yardage for each shot. This can be done in text on-screen or verbally.

A completed video could look like this:

If you don’t have access to a golf course, share what you’ve been working on, and shots from a practice facility, net at home or putting green. You could also include recent video highlights from competitions, lessons or practice, but include the above information.

To share your video:

  • Upload to YouTube or another publicly accessed link.
  • Add the link to your AJGA Player Center.
How to Get to Recruiting Video Through Player Center

Before you start:

  • Choose material that is new and showcases you in a good light, including attire.
  • Make sure you can see the entire club on the screen for all shots.

All video recruiting tools are available to all our Junior Plus members, ACE Grant recipients and active participants in Leadership Links .

All Junior and Future members can upgrade at any time in the Player Center to also receive access to our new partnership with FlightScope .

All 2020 events will feature swing videos with Mevo+ data points including clubhead speed, launch angle, smash factor and distance. We’ll share videos and analytics with you and college coaches through your AJGA Junior Plus profile.
