Sevierville, TN: Visit Sevierville and Tennessee Department of Tourist Development join the American Junior Golf Assocation in presenting the AJGA Junior Open presented by Visit Sevierville/Tennessee Tourism in 2020. The 36-hole event will take place on Sevierville Golf Club’s River Course from July 27th to July 29th.

"Visit Sevierville, along with our partners at Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, are pleased to present this summer's AJGA Junior Golf Tournament," says Sevierville Chamber of Commerce CEO Brenda McCroskey. "We believe the golfers will find the play challenging at The Sevierville Golf Club and enjoy all the fun, shopping and outdoor adventure Sevierville has to offer."

The event will bring 78 male and female junior golfers from around the country to the Sevierville, Tennessee area. AJGA Open tournaments make up the largest part of the AJGA schedule. All AJGA members are eligible to play in and may submit tournament applications to Open tournaments. All AJGA Open tournaments are filled using the AJGA’s Performance Based Entry system.

“It’s always great when a Tennessee city like Sevierville has the chance to showcase our state and its beauty on a national scale,” said Commissioner Mark Ezell, TDTD. “We are grateful to AJGA, Visit Sevierville and our partners who are working diligently to bring this world-class event here. We believe they’ll find golf in Tennessee—coupled with our state’s outdoor beauty, food and fun—is second to none.”

Sevierville Golf Club is situated on the banks of the Little Pigeon River is a first-time host of the AJGA. “The City of Sevierville is… Your Hometown in the Smokies! We are excited to showcase our wonderful town to the participants and families of the upcoming AJGA golf events. Of course, this would not be possible without The Sevierville Golf Club. This is the type of event SGC was designed for…World Class Golf for World Class events,” said Head Golf Professional of The Sevierville Golf Club, Craig Volentine. “The AJGA is the premiere Junior Golf Experience, every tournament is like a Major. We are honored to have them here for a week in late July.”

The three-day event will also include a 78-player qualifier. The AJGA Qualifier Series, like Monday Qualifying on the PGA TOUR, is one of the main ways’ players get their start with the AJGA. Typically held the day prior to AJGA Open and AJGA Junior All-Star Series tournaments, 18-hole AJGA Qualifiers give players an opportunity to "play their way in" to each coinciding tournament and earn PBE status for a future event.

We encourage the Sevierville community to volunteer at the AJGA Junior Open presented by Visit Sevierville/Tennessee Tourism. If you are interested in supporting the AJGA through volunteering please contact Tournament Director, Nathan Nottrott, nnottrott@ajga.org.
