The Cameron McCormick Junior All-Star received the American Junior Golf Association’s 2019 Junior All-Star of the Year Award.

Each year, the AJGA recognizes top tournaments, committees, and individuals who produce outstanding work during the previous AJGA season in 15 categories. AJGA annual awards distinguish the effort of supporters who make each quality tournament experience possible and in the Junior All-Star of the Year category, highlight community involvement and charitable giving.

"The Cameron McCormick Junior All-Star is more than deserving to be recognized as Junior All-Star of the Year. The tournament committee and sponsors, along with the Rawls Course staff, City of Lubbock and Texas Tech University, provide a first-class experience for our players and staff year-in and year-out. The chance to get a behind the scenes look at Jones AT&T Stadium and one-on-one sit downs with Cameron McCormick as one of the most respected golf coaches, make this event a staple on the AJGA schedule."
Regional Director, Solomon Hughes

AJGA Junior All-Stars provide juniors with the opportunity to play at a national level and showcase their talent to college coaches across the nation. These events also raise money to give back to the AJGA's ACE Grant and other foundations.

AJGA events would not be as successful as they are without our generous sponsors. The 2019 Cameron McCormick Junior All-Star had great partners including Lubbock Sports, who donated 100 cases of water for the event. Their commitment is appreciated and is a large part of the event’s award recognition.

The Rawls Course has also been a huge contributor in the event’s success. The AJGA has been at the Rawls Course for 12 non-consecutive years and returned this year to host the 2021 Cameron McCormick Junior All Star. The Junior All-Star of the Year award was presented during the award ceremony on July 7.

Other key factors included the tournament committee and social activities provided for players and families. At the 2019 event, the tournament committee set up a Player Hospitality tent at the golf course where lunch was served after every round and games like ping-pong were set up for players. The AJGA also hosted a complimentary Welcome Dinner at Texas Tech’s football field for players and guests. Highlights from the dinner included hearing from Texas Tech Men’s Golf coach, Greg Sands, and access to play on the field for players and parents.

"We have had this event for quite a while and whenever it is coming up we all get excited about it. We get some locals who want to come in and help out because they enjoy it so much. I'm just so glad that we get to show off this beautiful campus and course."
Tournament Chair, Erick Willcoxon

AJGA tournaments are annually honored in the categories of hospitality, fundraising, charitable giving, volunteers, engaged media, and social media. The year’s most outstanding golf professional, superintendent and golf course executive are honored alongside the most game-changing overall event, best new event, and top honorees in each tournament ‘series’ (Preview, Junior All-Star, Open and Invitational). Awards are presented on-site during the tournament week.
