Negrete leads Girls Division by four strokes heading into final round

CLEMMONS, N.C. -- Maria Jose Marin Negrete of Cali, Valle, Columbia, and Smith Summerlin of Raleigh, North Carolina, are the Girls and Boys Division leaders heading into the final round.

Negrete leads the Girls Division after posting a tournament-low 4-under-par 66. She currently sits at 5-under-par 135 for the tournament. Negrete had 5 birdies including a 15-foot putt on No. 18 to extend her lead. Negrete will tee off at 8:20 a.m. on July 1st, 2021, seeking her first AJGA victory.

Macy Pate of Winston Salem, North Carolina, is currently in second place after shooting 1-under-par 69. Pate sits four shots behind the leader with a total score of 1-under-par 139.

Mabrie McMahan of Austin, Texas, is currently in third place after shooting 2-under-par 68. McMahan sits nine shots behind the leader with a total score of 4-over-par 144.


Summerlin sits at the top of the Boys Division after shooting 3-under-par 67. Summerlin got out to a hot start with five birdies on the front nine and finished with six total. The North Carolina native will tee off at 11:10 a.m. on July 1st, 2021 in pursuit of his first career AJGA victory.

Will Hartman of Marvin, North Carolina, finished the round 3-under-par 67 with four birdies. Hartman is currently one stroke behind the leader with a total score of 2-under-par 138.

Clark Xander Goboy of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Supapon Amornchaichan of Bangkok, Thailand, are T3 at 1-under-par 139 after the second round. Amornchaichan bounced back from a triple bogey on No. 9 with an ace on No. 11 from 162 yards. The two combined for five birdies.

Sam Udovich of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, sits three strokes behind the leader after shooting even-par-70. After five birdies, Udovich put himself in a spot to compete with the other leaders heading into the final round.

The final round of play will tee off at 7:00 a.m.
