Registration Time: 7:30 – 10:15 a.m. Players are encouraged to arrive no more than one hour before their tee time to register. Players are required to register before the start of their round. Please arrive 5 minutes early to the tee.
Practice Facilities: The practice facilities will open at 7:30 a.m. Players are encouraged to arrive on-site no more than one hour before their posted tee time.
Qualifying Policy: Players must declare their intention in the scoring area to either accept a spot in the tournament field should they qualify or not. Once a player has signed his/her scorecard, the decision is final. Players who earn Performance Based Entry status will have the current season and the following season to use the Performance Stars. Players who qualify or accept a spot in the tournament do NOT forfeit Performance Based Entry status earned in the AJGA Qualifier.
Qualifying Spots: The exact number of qualifying spots will be posted at the qualifier registration area. Any ties for the final qualifying spots will be determined by a sudden-death playoff upon the conclusion of play.
Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather that warrants a cancellation of the AJGA Qualifier, the remaining tournament spots will be decided by Performance Based Entry.
Alternate Status: In case of tournament withdrawals, participants who fail to qualify with the next best score will be placed on an alternate list. Alternate status will be determined by the following formula:
1. The order of finish in a playoff.
2. Total score on Nos. 1-6 handicap holes on the course scorecard.
3. Total score on Nos. 7-12 handicap holes on the course scorecard.
4. Lowest individual hole score starting at No. 1 handicap hole until the tie is broken.
5. By lot.
Qualifier Format: The Billy Horschel Junior Championship presented by Zurich will be a stableford competition. We will be using the modified stableford format where points will be awarded (or deducted) based on your score for each hole:
- Albatross: +8 points
- Eagle: +5 points
- Birdie: +2 points
- Par: 0 points
- Bogey: -1 point
- Double Bogey or worse: -3 points
The qualifying spots will be determined by the players who has the most points after 18 holes. Since double bogey is the “worst” one could do on a hole, after a double bogey has been made the player is allowed, and encouraged, to pick up for that hole. Billy Horschel is very excited about the opportunity to teach juniors how to play aggressively. This was the main reason Billy and the AJGA chose the stableford format and why we have stated a double bogey is the highest score a player can receive.
Junior Plus Member Swing Videos by FLIGHTSCOPE: All Junior Plus Members may record swing metrics and an HD video through FlightScope technology on the driving range at any time during the event. Players can share videos and data in their Player Center, shared to college coaches through AJGA recruiting profiles. Contact the Tournament Director to schedule time to film a swing video.
Scorecards: Players will be required to bring a smart phone or device with internet capabilities that supports the Golf Genius application (available on iOS or Android) to use for their official scorecard and live scoring during all AJGA events. Please make sure you have the most updated version of the app. Instructions on how to use the app can be found here . Each player will be provided with a GGID at the starting tee and will be assigned to mark for another player in the group. The player is responsible for providing their own device and ensuring it is fully charged for the round.
Tournament Information: Tournament Information will be given to all qualifiers by the Tournament Director via e-mail and text at the conclusion of the Qualifier. For those players who qualify, the $295 Tournament entry fee will be reduced by the amount the player paid for entry into the Qualifier. The remaining entry fee will need to be paid via the Players Center prior to Tournament Registration. Qualifiers who are not AJGA members must complete the AJGA membership application online and pay the membership fee prior to the tournament.
Tournament Headquarters: Billy Horschel Junior Championship Tournament Headquarters is located in clubhouse. Please feel free to call Tournament Headquarters at (301) 938-6032, with any questions.
