Qualifier Information

QUALIFIER INFORMATION

Date: Monday, July 1, 2019

Starting Times: 8 a.m. shotgun (Players will be called to their carts approximately 30 minutes prior to the starting time for announcements). Participants will receive hole assignments upon their arrival on Monday, July 1.

Registration Information: AJGA Qualifier Registration will be located on the back patio of Boyne Highlands Resort – Heather Course from 6:30 – 7:30 a.m. Players must register by 7:30 a.m. to ensure that the shotgun begins precisely at 8 a.m.

Driving Range Opening Time: 6:30 a.m. Range balls are complimentary before play, courtesy of Boyne Highlands Resort.

Qualifying Policy: Players must declare their intention in the scoring area to either accept a spot in the tournament field should they qualify or not. Once a player has signed his/her scorecard, the decision is final. Players who earn Performance Based Entry status will have the current season and the following season to use the Performance Stars. Players who qualify or accept a spot in the tournament do NOT forfeit Performance Based Entry status earned in the AJGA Qualifier.

Qualifying Spots: The exact number of qualifying spots will be posted at the qualifier registration area. Any ties for the final qualifying spots will be determined by a sudden-death playoff upon the conclusion of play.

Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather that warrants a cancellation of the AJGA Qualifier, the remaining tournament spots will be decided by Performance Based Entry.

Alternate Status: In case of tournament withdrawals, participants who fail to qualify with the next best score will be placed on an alternate list. Alternate status will be determined by the following formula:

  1. The order of finish in a playoff.
  2. Total score on Nos. 1-6 handicap holes on the course scorecard.
  3. Total score on Nos. 7-12 handicap holes on the course scorecard.
  4. Lowest individual hole score starting at No. 1 handicap hole until the tie is broken.
  5. By lot.

Golf Genius: At all AJGA Qualifiers in 2019 TaylorMade-adidas Golf live scoring will be available. Players will be asked to assist with live scoring and will be responsible for entering scores after the completion of each hole for the entire group. In preparation for the AJGA Qualifier, please download the Golf Genius application onto your phone from the App Store or Google Play. Players will be provided a GGID code on their scorecard that will allow them access to enter scores. More instructions will be given at AJGA Qualifier Registration on-site.

Dress Code: All Boyne Highlands Resort – Heather Course guests must adhere to the club’s dress code (appropriate golf attire is required; jeans, t-shirts and cut-offs are not allowed). Guests may be asked to leave if they are not in accordance with these standards.

Swing Videos: All Junior Plus Members will have the opportunity to have their swings taped on the driving range for the College Coaches website at any time during the event. Players must see the Tournament Director to schedule a time to film their swing video. If you are unsure of your membership status, a list is available in tournament headquarters.

Tournament Information: Tournament Information will be given to all qualifiers by the Tournament Director following the awards ceremony. For those players who qualify, the $295 Tournament entry fee will need to be paid at Tournament Registration on Monday, July 1 at 7 p.m. at Boyne Highlands Resort – Day Lodge. Qualifiers who are not AJGA members must complete the AJGA membership application online and pay the membership fee prior to the tournament.

PRACTICE ROUND INFORMATION

Dates Available for Play: Wednesday, June 26 – Sunday, June 30

Tee Times Available for Play: Based on availability. Participants may make tee times by calling Boyne Highlands Resort – Heather Course at (231) 365-3029. Please identify yourself as an AJGA participant. Practice rounds on Sunday are for players only.

Practice Facility Times: Monday (6:30 am – 6:30 p.m.) / Tuesday - Sunday (6:30 am – 7 pm). Please call the golf shop to confirm facility times as these are subject to change over the course of the year.

Greens Fee Rates: Junior: $50/person includes cart fee. Adults/Parents: $85/person includes cart fee.

HOTEL/HOUSING INFORMATION

Host Hotel: Boyne Highlands Resort will serve as the host hotel and has given the AJGA a discount of 15% off regular rates, which includes complimentary Wi-Fi, swimming pools, and access to other resort amenities. Please use the code DAJGA when booking online, or give that code to reservationist when booking via telephone.

Cut Off Date: There is no cutoff date.

TRANSPORTATION

Airport: Players should make reservations into Pellston Regional Airport of Emmet County (PLN), which is approximately 20 minutes from the hotel and golf course or Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City (TVC) which is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes from the hotel and the golf course.

OTHER INFORMATION:

Rangefinders: The AJGA has adopted the note to Rule 14-3 allowing the usage of distance-measuring devices in all AJGA competitions. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or MEASURE OTHER CONDITIONS that might affect his/her play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3.

Grooves: The condition of competition requiring a player’s clubs conform to the groove and punch mark specifications as detailed in the Rules of Golf Effective January 2016 is IN effect for AJGA competitions. To determine if a club or set of clubs conforms to the new specifications, players should first search the Informational Club Database (Grooves) which is available at usga.org/InfoClubsDB .

Spectator Golf Carts: Golf carts and spectator carts are not allowed without a Government issued Blue Permanent Handicap placard. Please see the Tournament Director on-site to receive an approved cart.

Caddies: Caddies are not permitted in AJGA tournament play.

Push Carts: Push carts (non-motorized) are approved for use by all players as permitted by the host facility. Players are responsible for providing their own push carts.

Code of Conduct: All AJGA participants are expected to abide by the AJGA Code of Conduct. Violations of the Code of Conduct will be dealt with based on the severity of the misconduct.
